The reason why YOSHIKI being called ‘Charisma’

posted on 05 Jun 2009 20:51 by xworldpress  in News

This is a translation of a column in Sanspo called “Gyokai 25 ji” that was published on June 1. It’s far from perfect but I think (and hope) there’s no any serious mistake. Mind you, English is not my native language.

The writer (Nomura Etsuko) who wrote this article is the same one who wrote ‘Marriage in X JAPAN Live in Taipei’ article. (It’s in the same column.)  Recently, she often writes the articles about X. Her written style is somewhat boldness and not quite flattering. I started reading her column because she is the only journalist who criticized the media about Yoshiki VS Sumo Association’s case. When Yoshiki was accused of walking on tatami (Japanese reed mat) with his boots (and then we know he didn’t), why did the medias apparently report he wore shoes on tatami.  She asked for the media ethics. She didn’t neither show any feeling of fascinate nor loving for Yoshiki in her earlier works. I keep reading her article just because I was thinking the same as her for that case. (It was absurd and wouldn’t have been that big issue if the media didn’t make it) Then, time goes by…. She began writing about Yoshiki more and more favorably after she had a chance to meet him in person. I could sense it but still not so sure until I read this article. Now it’s undoubtedly that she’s one of the victims of his charisma/charm already. I’m not quite surprised though. I mean, I have been X and YOSHIKI fan for over 15 years, so I’ve seen it before. The most severe case [in good way] was that of hide. (read his interviews that talked about Yoshiki, you’ll see what I mean) And in bad way, was that of Kobayashi Nobuya, I was soooooo scared of this guy. His infatuation with Yoshiki also ended in quite unsatisfactory way. I’ll write about this guy later if you want to know.

O.K. let’s come back to the topic and see Numura Etsuko’s ‘the reason for Yoshiki being called [charisma]’

“The reason why YOSHIKI being called ‘Charisma’”

X JAPAN’s outdoor live performance ever since major debut and the first performance on aboard with 6 members after SUGIZOjoined the band, were full of impressive scenes. I had an opportunity to interview YOSHIKI exclusively and heard the backstage story.

According to YOSHIKI, the rules for the performance, such as opening time, were very strict. After 10 p.m. the light must be turn off. Thus the program at the end of the performance like ‘Art of live’ was arranged to be shorten especially for Taiwan. In addition, the Lion Dance and the Kimono fashion show are the mixture of Japanese and Taiwan’s culture. “It’s my intention. The blending of Japanese and Taiwanese culture actually reflects through the sound of music. There’s some local (Taiwanese) sound mixed in Japan-ish music. It would be better to do something differences in each country.” YOSHIKI showed his aspiration.

In the song ‘WITHOUT YOU’, there’s a scene TOSHI walked to him and they hugged. Regarding to his state of mind, YOSHIKI revealed the warm-hearted episode to us  ‘When TOSHI, my childhood friend, walked to me. I can’t bare it anymore. I could not stop my tears and also after the drum solo, when I looked at TOSHI’s face, he kept smiling to me, with the feeling like ‘YOSHIKI is superb.’  Then, Toshi would shout loudly. He always keeps understanding me very well. I think we are joined together with great destiny.”

Besides that, there was a surprise by YOSHIKI wearing the wedding dress, something he hadn’t done for a long time. Seems like YOSHIKIi wavered to the very last minute. “In old days, I dressed up as a bride once and Taiwanese fans can still remember. They dressed up in wedding dress greeting me at the airport…. But, when I dressed it up for this time, I’m so embarrassed. So I asked Toshi ‘Please drag me out together.’, and he also wore white jacket. Then it just became like a wedding ceremony.’ Yoshiki expressed his innocent smile.

SUGIZO joined the band. This is the first performance of the 6 members on aboard. There was a duet between YOSHIKI on piano and SUGIZO on Violin. YOSHIKI positively stated ‘I and SUGIZO hang out and drank together last night. We had a talk, something like; perhaps, from the start, we have a fate to play music together. We feels very good when playing together. X is developing with good feeling. The band which the drummer can play piano and the guitarist can play violin. Don’t you think this is impossible !?”

After the concert in Hong Kong, I got the permission to see him from the rehearsal. He’s very strict with music and performance. Besides, when they set the antenna up (for lifting the drum set), while I thought what’s going on, I heard a voice asking “When the drums move, will there be any hole or something happen? It would be very terrible If TOSHI falls.” Or “Thank you very much. Please do this favor for me.” (Arigatou gozaimasu, Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu) by YOSHIKI who said carefully to everyone around him. He is the person who can feel what’s in the heart of the members or staffs before anyone else. Surely his music or technique on drums and piano is good. But, the polite and well mannered YOSHIKI makes me realize again why he is entitled as ‘Rock Star Charisma.’

I think there are many actors or singers nowadays who are thinking ‘I’m great.’ and misunderstanding that they can sell well only because of their ability. I want them to just take a look and learn a bit from YOSHIKI.

YOSHIKI had said things like the drumer on piano and the guitarist on violin after the previous Tokyo Dome concert. He repeated it again this time. Seems like YOSHIKI has forgotten about S.K.I.N. completely. (I don’t care much though.) And Ym’ staff report last night (after 4-day absence) just taught me the true meaning of “Staff Report”. It’s not the report about YOSHIKI by his staff, but the report about his staff by his staff.  ___orz  This isn’t what I want to know!!!  TT A TT (BTW he gave his staffs 2 days off cuz they work so hard for a long time. WOW what a generous boss…)

[Fan's Report] X Japan Live in Taiwan

posted on 02 Jun 2009 21:58 by xworldpress  in Report

Hello X Freaks on the planet!!! I'm X freak from Thailand.

I've just come back from Taipei with tons of memory during X World Tour Live in Taiwan. I'll try my best to arrange my thought (so many things in my head now ^^) and report as much details as possible for those who didn't have the chance to go there.

To make it's easy to follow, I'll go by the music play list. Are you ready? Let's go!

SE.Amethyst

Beyond our expection, the concert started exactly on time! It was at 7.00 and some blocks were not fully occupied, yet. I think that maybe because many fans still lined up at the X merchandise booths (FYI, there was a report saying that the line for X tour goods was about 3 km long..OMG). And some may get used to of X Japan being late. So I saw alot of ppl running and soaking with sweat when they came to there seats.

01.Rusty Nail

The first song was Rusty Nail with a longer music intro to gave time for band member call.

02.WEEK END - Half version

The show was followed by Week End half version. Instead of Yoshiki going back to his drum after the piano part, he continued to play piano and Sugizo appeared. This part became a beautiful duet between piano and violin. The show even made the fans scream louder when the music turned to be Silent Jealousy. The first time this song was played in the World Tour.

03.YOSHIKI Piano & SUGIZO Violin

04.Silent Jealousy

- YOSHIKI Piano & SUGIZO Violin

- Band Version

05.PATA Guitar solo

I'm not a musician so I didn't really concentrated on his guitar skill (sorry Pata-sensei T_T) Anyway, since my seat was so close I could notice that Pata looks so young and his flowers-screen shirt was cool, too. I love you Pata-san~

06.DRAIN

let me first explain that Taiwan fans had a project called 'Yellow Heart Project' specially decicated to hide. They planed to make a red heart-shape with yellow background in A1 area (the main arena). So the staffs gave red or yellow light stick to all the fans in A1 area for free and asked them to waive the stick when hide's song was performed. The idea was great but unfortunately it didn't succeed.Mainly because it was impossible to make a heart-shape barely by light sticks and I think that not everyone was informed about this project, too.

Hongkong fans which possibly be the biggest group of oversea fans in this concert got their own project too. They planned to make a X-shape made by crosing two red fablic. I didn't know the details of their project since they kept saying it was a secret. Anyway, i wasn't a part of the Hongkong project, anyone got the picture please show me.

07.Say Anything - Acoustic Version feat.TOSHI & PATA & HEATH

Say Anything-Acoustic version fit very well in an open-air concert. The cool temperature in Taipei (21 degree celcius) created a cozy and relax atmosphere of the night. Surprisingly, there were some fans sat during this song (at least they didn't clap their hands..haha)

08.Tears

Yoshiki was back on stage throwing roses to the fans. Then, he sat on piano stool Tears was began. It's hard to resist ourselves for not crying. While sing along with Toshi, some fans were crying including my friends. I didn't cry though. (i was tough this time ^^)

09.KURENAI

More special than X concert anywhere, Taiwan production team included firework to blend very well in the show. It even made Kurenai more 'red' than usual.

= ENCORE.1 =

01.VIOLET UK

- ROSA remix

Break time for the band but the show still continued. Rosa was played followed by traditional Dragon dance! Then, it was a kimono fashion show by H.Naoto.

02.YOSHIKI Drum solo

Yoshiki's drum solo is a highlight and many fans have waited for it. It was so obvious for this concert that when the drum solo was about to start, many fan (especially guys) slowly move up front to get closer to Yoshiki. And he didn't disappointed us. Yoshiki did the solo as if there was no tomorrow!

It was more special when the Drum platform can move 360 degree and also move vertically from the back of the stage to the edge of central catwalk! Thanks to his crystal drum set, I can see his face so clearly (wow) Good news, he didn't dive to the drums this time..thank God.

03.Without You

While Yoshiki was panting from the long and powerful drum solo. Toshi appeared on stage and sing Without You. After that...(i think you all can imagine) Yoshiki walked along the catwalk toward Toshi. The two long lost friends were embraced each other.

I couldn't resist my true feeling anymore. My tears were flowing like waterfall (sob sob) hide's PV was shown on the screen. And even made it hard for me to stop crying T_T Btw, I think it was the same PV showed at the Dome concert last May.

04.I.V.

During the intro of I.V. Toshi walked to each member and asked if anyone got something to say. Pata said something like 'We are X' in Mandarin. Sugizo said 'I love everyone'. I don't remember what heath said. But Yoshiki just ran away from Toshi's microphone without saying any word.

= ENCORE.2 =

It seems that fan wave is a must thing in X concert. The fans know when to start and know where to start the wave. For Taiwan, fans on the stand started it and not only those on the stand, fans at the arena also did it as well (just made it back&forth)

During the wave part, I saw a big banner saying 'Marry Me' with hide's yellow heart background on the right stand. And I found out later that the owner of the banner just proposed his girlfriend to marry him at the concert. oh man..this is the most creative wedding trick i've ever think of! Congratulation for the soon-to-be husband & wife!

SE.WORLD ANTHEM

You may recall that Yoshiki gave an interview when he arrived Taiwan saying that last time during his Asia Promote Tour he saw many Taiwanese fans wore bride gown to greet him at the airport. So this time he would enter Taiwan in wedding dress, if his management hadn’t stopped him…

I didn't take it seriously when I knew he said that but..but..but..He really did it!!!!

Toshi, in his white suit, dragged Yoshiki who was now wearing a bride gown from the backstage to the main catwalk. Yoshiki was obviously extremely blushing. Less than a minute or two, he couldn't bare his self embarrassment anymore. After Toshi announced 'Happy Wedding', Yoshiki immediately took (tear) off his wedding dress and threw it to the fans. (I think they should have thrown a bride's bouquet instead..haha)

01.X

Another legacy of X Japan is X Jump! After the concert, Yoshiki said that he was surprised to see fans in Taiwan (and before that, Hong Kong) know how to do X jump. Of course we know..X fans all over the world know it!

One more thing, prior to the concert, Taiwan claimed that the concert would be the same scale as in Tokyo Dome. I didn't believe it at first. However,I changed my mind right after I saw Yoshikitty balloons appeared on the two sides next to the stage! It was huge..real huge. Hmm..I just realized this time that it was cute though (No!!!)

02.ENDLESS RAIN

No break after X, the band continued with Endless Rain. It was so impressive especially when Toshi stopped singing and let the fans sing. The open-air stadium created echo sound of the song and it was very cool. I don't know how to explain the feeling but please imagine singing or praying in a church..it sounded like that.very sacred..i would say.

= ENCORE.3 =

01.ART OF LIFE - 2nd part

We are now at the end of the concert, the band came back with the piano part of Art of Life and all members play together 'till the last melody of the song. Sugizo played hide's guitar part and there was no hide's hologram.

End of the performace. All members including hide's giant doll  were holding hands as to say good bye to all fans.

After all, congratulation to all X freaks in Taiwan. Thailand should be the first to have X japan open-air concert but due to unexpected circumstance, we missed the chance. Anyway, I really do appreciate my trip to Taiwan. X freaks there were so powerful and enegetic in the concert, but they also gave me tons of impression for their kindness and helpful people I met. Hope to welcome you all soon in Thailand for X live in Bangkok!

Wedding proposal in X Japan Live in Taiwan!

posted on 02 Jun 2009 16:42 by xworldpress  in News

   here is the link;     http://www.sanspo.com/column/news/090601/clb09060111060000-n1.htm

This is another column from Sanspo…(X Japan’s live aftermath. hehe) As there was a banner in Taiwan Live written “Marry me”, there was really a wedding proposal in X Japan’s live!!!

After the owner of that banner (the groom-to-be) spreaded it out, he handed engagement ring to his girlfriend. Then that girl nodded her head "I do" and cried. This happened at the very ending of “I.V.” that led to the 2nd Encore. And it is unbelievable that when “World Anthem” began, Toshi “dragged” (I have to say “drag”, since Yo was still hesitate to come out in that white gown and veil) Yoshiki out and shouted “Happy Wedding!!!!”. Though this is just a coincidence, but this was like the greatest wedding bless for that couple.

Congratulations, newly weds!!!!!  How I wish my boyfriend proposed me in X Japan’s concert too!

YOSHIKI Biography to be on the screen ! ?

posted on 02 Jun 2009 03:23 by xworldpress  in News

   http://www.sanspo.com/geino/news/090601/gnj0906011019020-n1.htm

According to the article in Sanspo, YOSHIKI revealed, in the interview that took place at the hotel in Taipei on May 31, that there has been an offer to make his biography「YOSHIKI/佳樹」, which is a bestseller that sold over 100,000 in one week, to become a film.

YOSHIKI did not tell much about this offer so we have to wait and see. But... who will play YOSHIKI role? (and all of X's members)

The article then briefed up the content in Yoshiki’s biography book, including author’s profile. Yoshiki feels really grateful for the fact that this biography project took Komatsu-san (the author) and Kadokawa Shoten (big publisher in Japan) 10 years to complete. He said “So many things had happened during these 10 years that (If they are a normal author and a normal pulisher) would cause this project to be ceased. But it’s miraculous that Komatsu-san and Kadogawa-san still keep patient and manage to complete it. But since X JAPAN has started its world tour and taken a new step forword, if possible, I want to release the volume 2. But it may take another 2-3 years to complete..."

About the “Best Album” that has been expecting since X’s reunion, Yoshiki said “up to this point, I continually worked on it and 70% is completed. English version of this album has been definitely taken into account. I will go back to L.A. in June to continue this project. I will expend my best effort to release it this year.”

X JAPAN will perform at Shanghai Expo 2010

posted on 01 Jun 2009 19:02 by xworldpress  in News

Source :

Just like what the topic said, X Japan plans to play for the opening ceremony of Shanghai Expo in May 2010 after Yoshiki’s grateful response to Shanghai Expo office’s invitation. (seems like yo ‘s so fond of such grand event….don’t you guys think that yoshiki’s really born for anything grace and grand? lol) The place for this event is still under committee’s consideration. But it is expected that Shanghai World Expo 2010 will attract the record-breaking number of participants (appx 70 million). Even more than that of Osaka Expo with 64 million participants. (20th century boy’s fans should get used to the Osaka Expo, since it was featured as this comic’s crucial location)

Regarding X’s live in China, Sanspo claimed that negotiation to hold X Japan’s live in Bird-nest Stadium has reached its final process i.e. 2 parties to sign the final agreement. Yoshiki himself said that he had to commit to his live announcements in front of the fans of each country, and also he expressed his strong will to visit the places for the live himself. And as we already noted, Yoshiki will visit Shanghai and Beijing in this 13-14th of June with press conference that will also be opened for the fans.

  Besides, Yoshiki also left this "love note" to the fans in the countries that lives had been postponed or cancelled;

“Decisions about Live in France and the States will be settled within June. Live in Thailand and Korea do have a lot of progress. After we’ve got Sugizo….we are a lot powered up….really wanna fly to play in those countries straight away".

Here comes the pics: yo’s getting skinnier after the live. Have lots of rest and eat up….cos we’re dying to see the return of your boobs.

Some clips from youtube. This is Mezamashi News

This one is from the TV programme called Zoom In. Yoshiki talked about his mom coming to dressing room right after the concert and asked if he had a proper meal. That made his high and energetic mood after performing in front of 55000 audiences faded away very quickly. Only his mother can say such thing to YOSHIKI!  lol
